State Department makes embassy staff cuts permanent in Cuba

The State Department made staff cuts permanent at the U.S. Embassy in Havana. The U.S. withdrew 60 percent of its diplomats after 24 Americans suffered mysterious ailments, and the State Department said it couldn’t send them back because it still doesn’t have “definitive answers on the source or cause of the attacks.”

Vermont Senator urges State Department to return diplomats

A six-member delegation of U.S. senators and House members wrapped up a five-day visit to Cuba on Wednesday with a call for the Trump administration to restore the staff of the U.S. embassy in Havana, and resume an effort the Obama administration started to improve relations with the island’s government.
